Estates and operations
From energy systems to catering, estates and operations shape both the daily footprint of institutions and the lived experience of students and staff.
They also have tangible impact on the environment: influencing carbon emissions, resource use, nature, wellbeing and community benefit.
Greener campuses do more than reduce impact: they demonstrate institutional values, inspire behaviour change, and can act as living labs for research and teaching. They must also be designed and managed for resilience, ensuring institutions can adapt and continue to operate in the face of a changing climate.
Estates and operations cannot be treated in isolation: to maximise impact they must be connected with governance, learning, research and partnerships.
