As we have seen in the headlines, biodiversity, the variety of all life on Earth, is declining across the globe, but it is especially pronounced in the UK and Ireland. With global treaties and nature groups trying to change the narrative, we have joined the chorus of voices to stand up for those that do not have a voice at the (human) table. As of March 2025, EAUC Scotland have now published the Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Guide and Template for the post-16 education sector.

Remember: whether or not you have large grounds to work with, biodiversity is impacted by a swathe of institutional activities. You can take action, not just on your estate, but in curricula and research, student and staff engagement, finance and investments, cleaning and catering, and more. We hope this guide will show you that, no matter your role, there are actions you can take within your institution to protect and restore biodiversity.
